Eye exams allow visibility into your eye health months or years before problems become obvious. Many eye diseases, such as glaucoma and age-related macular degeneration, develop gradually, often so slowly they can cause permanent damage before they’ve been noticed. Regular check-ups can detect early signs of these afflictions and more.
An eye exam is very routine. For your first visit, we take some time getting to know you and your eyes. We’ll find out about your medical history, your current medications, and other basic information. For your first visit to us, bring your glasses or contacts (in their case) should you already have a prescription.
We use straightforward and state-of-the-art methods to see how your eyes are doing. Your comfort is our focus throughout the duration of the exam. All our procedures are non-invasive, with most eyesight testing relying on your feedback. Our optometrists ensure you’re informed about each technique within your appointment.
We use a series of reading charts to check vision over a distance and evaluate your depth perception. We check for color blindness and ocular motility (or eye movement). Using simple tests such as the cover test (wherein you cover one eye and use the other) we can test eye alignment and discover how your eyes work independently of each other. High-tech scans, such as retinal imaging and optical coherence tomography, allow us to look deeper into the structure of your eye.
Eye health goes beyond vision. There are a number of diseases that can be successfully treated if caught in the early stages, such as glaucoma and AMD. The early phases of macular degeneration cause no vision loss, but detection allows you and our optometrist to create a plan for your eyes’ future. Glaucoma can cause blindness if left untreated, but if identified in its infancy we can help prevent early vision loss.
It is our priority to increase the longevity of your eyesight.
If you need glasses, our optometrists find your prescription through a variety of methods, such as retinoscopy and refraction. Both tests include using several lenses and your feedback to discover your prescription. Refraction is how we determine the exact myopia, hyperopia, or astigmatism present.
Our dispensary has a large variety of glasses for the entire family. Your eyewear is a chance to show off your personality while helping you enjoy a great outlook on life. Prescription sunglasses, contact lenses, and trendy frames are all available in our office. Need a hand? Don’t worry: our staff are here to help you choose the perfect shape for your face.

The right contact lenses should fit your natural lenses without discomfort. In fact, well-fitted lenses can reduce the effect of dry eye and are a wonderful complement to an active life.
Contact lenses come in a wide range of types, from daily to extended wear. We’ll help you find the right option for your eyesight, routine, and lifestyle. Contact comfort is also highly dependant on the right lens care, and we’ll make sure you know what’s best before you leave our office.
